今回の高校英語は話法の転換のまとめと、理解できたか確認するための書き換え問題です。
直接話法から間接話法（間接話法から直接話法）に書き換えるのに、平叙文、疑問文、命令文、感嘆文それぞれでコツがあります。話法の転換のしかたを一通り理解してから、書き換え問題にチャレンジしてみましょう。
話法の転換 文の種類別例文
直接話法 ⇔ 間接話法の書き換えは、伝達動詞の変換、時制の一致、代名詞・副詞句の変換を話者・発言者の立場で行うことがポイントとなります。
副詞句・指示代名詞の変換（直接話法 → 間接話法）
・yesterday → the day before, the previous day
・last ～ → ～ before, the previous ～ / ～ ago → ～ before
・today → that day
・tomorrow → (the) next day, the following day
・next ～ → the next ～, the following ～
・this → that / these → those / here → there
文のタイプによって使われる伝達動詞やその後に続く節や句が異なります。文の種類ごとに話法の転換を例文で確認していきます。
平叙文の例文
平叙文の直接話法・間接話法の書き換え例文です。「say to 人, ” ～ “」は「tell 人 that 節～」にします。
【直接話法】
He said to me, “I saw your mother in the park yesterday.”
（「昨日公園で君のお母さんに会ったよ」と彼が私に言いました。）
【間接話法】
He told me (that) he had seen my mother in the park the day before.
（彼は前日私の母に会ったと私に言いました。）
疑問文の例文
疑問文では間接話法での伝達動詞に ask などが使われます。一般疑問文では ask if 主語＋動詞 ～、疑問詞のある疑問文では ask 疑問詞 主語＋動詞～ の語順となります。
一般疑問文
【直接話法】
She said to me, “Are you going to go shopping tomorrow?”
（「明日は買い物に行く予定なの？」と彼女が私に言いました。）
【間接話法】
She asked me if (whether) I was going to go shopping the next day.
（彼女は次の日に買い物に行くかどうか私に尋ねました。）
疑問詞のある疑問文
【直接話法】
He said to me, “Where do you want to go today?”
（「今日はどこへ行きたい？」と彼が私に言いました。）
【間接話法】
He asked me where I wanted to go that day.
（私がその日どこに行きたいか、彼が私に尋ねました。）
命令文の例文
一般的な命令文は tell 人 to do、禁止の命令文（Don’t ～）は tell 人 not to、Please ～の命令文は ask 人 to、Let’s ～ は suggest (to 人) that を用いて間接話法に書き換えることができます。
一般的な命令文
【直接話法】
My mother said to me, “Hurry up.”
（「急ぎなさい」と母が私に言いました。）
【間接話法】
My mother told me to hurry up.
（母が私に急ぐように言いました。）
tell 以外にも状況に応じて order や advice なども伝達動詞に使われます。
禁止の命令文
【直接話法】
She said to me, “Don’t be lazy.”
（「ダラダラしないの」と母が私に言いました。）
【間接話法】
She told me not to be lazy.
（ダラダラしないように、と母が私に言いました。）
Please ～（依頼）
【直接話法】
He said to me, “Please help me.”
（「どうか助けてくれ」と彼が私に言いました。）
【間接話法】
He asked me to help him.
（助けてくれるよう、彼が私に言いました。）
Let’s ～（勧誘）
【直接話法】
She said to him, “Let’s go shopping.”
（「お買い物に行きましょう」と彼女は彼に言いました。）
【間接話法】
She suggested to him (that) they (should) go shopping.
（彼女は買い物に行くことを彼に提案しました。）
間接話法の伝達動詞には propose も使われます。that 節の should は省略可能ですが、動詞を原形にすることに注意してください。（時制の一致で went にはならない。）
感嘆文の例文
【直接話法】
She said, “What a beautiful flower this is!”
（「これはなんてきれいな花なんでしょう。」と彼女は言いました。）
【間接話法】
間接話法は伝達動詞を exclaim などに変えて＋what/how ～ を続けるタイプと、普通の平叙文 と同様に書き換えて、形容詞・副詞の前に very を入れるタイプがあります。後半のタイプでは with joy、with a sigh などが伝達動詞の後に入れることもあります。
She exclaimed what a beautiful flower that was.
She said (that) that was a very beautiful flower.
（それはなんてきれいな花なのでしょう、と彼女は言いました。彼女は買い物に行くことを彼に提案しました。）
祈願文の例文
【直接話法】
He said, “(May) God help me.”
（「神よ、私をお助けください」と彼は言いました。）
【間接話法】
pray/wish + that 節を使って書き換えられます。
He prayed (that) God might help him.
（神が自分を助けてくれるよう彼は祈りました。）
重文の例文
書き換え方は平叙文と同様ですが、等位接続詞の重文では、特に接続詞直後の that は省略しません。
【直接話法】
She said, “He is a newcomer, and they don’t trust him.”
（「彼は新人で、彼らは彼のことを信用していません」と彼女は言いました。）
【間接話法】
She said (that) he was a newcomer and that they didn’t trust him.”
（彼は新人で、彼らは彼のことを信用していない、と彼女は言いました。）
複文の例文
because などの従位接続詞は接続詞をそのまま使います。
【直接話法】
He said, “I want to go home early, because I am sleepy .”
（「眠いので早く帰りたいです。」と彼は言いました。）
【間接話法】
He said (that) he wanted to go home early, because he was sleepy .
（眠いので早く帰りたいと彼は言いました。）
